Imaginacion...

Cartago is deeply tied to Catholicism. The heart, and culture of this city lives it. It's thick like the air near the ocean, but here in the mountains it's clean and fresh. The people are soo kind and devoted.
This photo seemed to capture life in Cartago. Two young women, holding new life near their heart, next to the pillars of their beliefs. The woman in the foreground has a rosary in her hand, seemingly intent on devoting her life, and that of her child, to God. It was, and now through this photo, will always be a powerful memory. I hope all of you can feel it too.

Not half the man...

"Time, time to laugh, time to stop and smell the roses, time to share what you have with others, time to stop and say I love you with actions not just words, time to make a difference, time to stop listening to what the world says but what He says, time to make a choice, time to say yes to faith not fear, time to be a blessing. You brother have made the time and to me for that you will now and always be precious. Pray for those of us who are still walking the walk. Pray for us that lift you up each day in prayer, for those of us waiting to hug you one more time, look into those beautiful eyes and say welcome home. I miss you more than words can say. I wish I was walking with you, talking, or not talking at all, just there. I will be forever thankful for our time together. How could such a brief span of time been so filled with moments and parts of my heart, things so deep it seems to be a present that I open a little bit at s time. Things that God keeps revealing to me, that even now something that was shared will come to me and I think wow thank you God". Anonymous Linda

Anillo de Fuego and more...

Here are a few more shots of the Volcan Poas area...

Spent some time visiting smaller towns in the area, like Cartago... I forget the name of this church but it evidently is a very important place. Every year near Christmas, hundreds of thousands of folks walk here from all over Costa Rica.
Also spent some time in San Jose, a town I am not very fond of, but all the business associations and government offices are located here so if you have any business to take care of with these offices, ya gotta go. The city is freakin crazy but it does have some of the best street graffiti I have seen...

Anillo de Fuego

Geographically speaking, Costa Rica lies within the Ring of Fire; here is a shot of a path winding through the cloud forest leading to Volcan Paos, that lies within it.

Just a short walk takes you through a cloud forest to a view of the crater. This Volcan is still active and wasnt too long ago when it actually erupted. You need to arrive to the vista early, for the clouds envelope it by noon. We got there about 11:30am, caught a glimpse of the crater and before I could get my camera ready to shoot, the mist took over the forest. Here is shot looking down into the crater below which is hissing and spitting gas and fuego. Sorry you will have to use your imagination...
